The 72 had headers, 4 barrel, and cam upgrade. Had a 74 and a 72 Maverick Grabber, both with the 302’s. As a family I had only known a 55 Fairlane, 63 Comet, 66 Galaxy, and a 1969 Mercury Marquis. The kid I'm buying it from said he has had it about a year and just lost interest in building it and is ready for a new bike. He drove a 1972 Maverick as a demo, and as I was only 9, I was still amazed at how cheaply the car was made. The heads are off now - and the cylinders all look amazingly clean with very little ring ridge. It was getting into deep 10 and 11 territory. In beautiful shape, this Grabber looks to have only covered around 65,000 miles. This Maverick is optioned with the Grabber package, which added some neat features to the Maverick. The storey behind the engine is it came out of an older truck that was built for the strip. On the hood I believe where there is now blk hood stripes it was green since it appears through some of the cracks in the blk stripping-however I think it was a lighter green than the rest of the body color? The Grabber I have was orginally green and I would like to put it back to its original color.
